Close up of Toe Brakes

Since I wanted these to be as realistic as I could make them, I opted to make toe brakes using the joystick buttons.

This was pretty much a simple door hinge (remember that sturdy thing???) bolted to the plates for the actual pedals.  I pretty much made this part from scratch.  The brackets that hold the microswitches are screen door brackets found in the hardware isle in Home Depot.

Notice the springs at the top.  They allow a return of the brake when released.  The real test of these for functionality is to taxi a tail dragger in FlightSim.  The differential braking is quite interesting to get used to...

In keeping with an inexpensive theme, the wires to the switches are from an old hard drive IDE cable.
